Sociology Professor Renisa Mawani Talks Immigration History and Insects

This week Ira caught up with Sociology Professor and soon-to-be second time author Renisa Mawani about her research interests, upcoming book and future projects.

Renisa works in the fields of colonial legal history and critical theory.

A colleague has described her research career in three words: land, water and air.  Growing up in a family with migration history, Renisa developed an interest in the subject of migration. Her research includes state racisms over land and the force of ocean on colonial migrations.  She also has a special interest in “legalities of nature,” for example, the relationship between law and insects in the past decades.

Listen to Renisa’s interview with Ira and get to know more about her and her fascinating research stories!
