This week Ira sits down with Professor Joshua Mostow from The Department of Asian Studies at UBC and talks about his ongoing research in Japanese culture and the upcoming exhibition at Royal Ontario Museum.
Professor Joshua is a specialist in pre-modern Japanese literature and art. His interest in Japanese culture spouted in high school, followed by a trip to Japan in his second year at university. He is also the co-author of book Gender & Power in the Japan and new fellow of Royal Society of Canada.
His upcoming exhibition “A Third Gender: Beautiful Youths in Japanese Prints” will be presented at Royal Ontario Museum in early 2016. Almost 100 items will be exhibited. Listen to Ira’s interview on CiTR Radio here.
